Launching Event for Providing Quality Early Childhood Education and Care: Results from the Starting Strong Survey 2018

 

On October 25th, KICCE, together with the Korean Society for Early Childhood Teacher Education, hosted the “Korea-OECD TALIS Starting Strong International Seminar”. The seminar was held as a ‘Launching Event for Providing Quality Early Childhood Education and Care: Results from the Starting Strong Survey 2018’, and was held on the same day the results of TALIS Starting Strong Survey, which 9 countries around the world participated over the past 5 years, were officially publicized. The first presentation was delivered by Yuri Belfali (Head of Division, Early Childhood and Schools, OECD) on 'Providing Quality of Early Childhood Education and Childcare: Starting Strong Survey 2018 Results', based on the results and implications of the report that became publically avaliable on the day. Eun-seul Kim (Associated Research Fellow, KICCE) then shared more detailed analysis of the Korean data while making comparisons with the international data. During the panel discussion, Eun-Hye Park (OMEP World President/Ewha Women's University), Prof. Seung-Ha Lee (Executive Director, the Korean Society for Early Childhood Teache/ Chung-Ang University), and Yoon-Kyung Choi (Former TALIS 3S NPM of Korea, KICCE) participated to share the results of OECD research and to discuss policy directions for early childhood teachers in Korea.
