Regional Forums on Reforming Qualifications and Training Systems for Future Early Childhood Teachers Focused on Child Growth and Development
The Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Korea Institute of Child Care and Education (KICCE) and Korea National University of Education, and supported by Kyungpook National University and Dongshin University, successfully hosted the 'Regional Forums on Reforming Qualifications and Training Systems for Future Early Childhood Teachers Focused on Child Growth and Development' across three sessions held on November 12 (Tuesday) in the Yeongnam and Gangwon regions, November 15 (Friday) in the Honam and Jeju regions, and November 20 (Wednesday) in the Chungcheong region, with more than 650 participants, including representatives from related organizations, academia, educators, and parents of kindergarten and childcare center attendees, engaging in active discussions.
The forums aimed to explore plans for revising major curricula and departments for future early childhood teacher training, proposals for integrated teacher qualification programs for current educators, and the development of integrated qualification acquisition processes for new and incumbent principals of (tentatively named) Early Childhood Schools.
Presentations were delivered by Professor Youngmi Go from Soonchunhyang University, Professor Daewook Kim from Gyeongsang National University, Professor Yumi Kim from the Graduate School of Education at Sookmyung Women's University, and Professor Eonkyung Kim from Korea National University of Education, followed by discussions among experts from academia, current educators, and parents of kindergarten and childcare center attendees who shared diverse perspectives on the reform of teacher qualifications and training systems.
