KICCE organized a joint session during the Korean Association of Child Care and Education conference held on Friday, November 24, at the Maison Glad Hotel in Jeju, Korea. The session focused on the crucial theme of 'Responding to the Healthy Psychosocial Development of Infants and Young Children' and was designed to delve into key academic issues. Moderated by Kim Eunkyung, Professor of Early Childhood Education at Dongguk University, the session addressed critical topics, including supporting healthy social-emotional development in infants and young children, promoting social-emotional development at home, fostering collaboration in child care and education institutions, and early detection of infants and young children at risk of disability. The event featured two presentations: "Policy Recommendations for Supporting Children's Social and Emotional Development" by Kim Ji-hyun, Research Fellow at KICCE, and "Recent Perspectives on Problem Behavior and Positive Behavior Support in Infancy and Early Childhood" by Choi Yoon-hee, Professor of Special Education at Kwangwoon University Graduate School of Education. Additionally, "Actual Conditions and Policy Alternatives for Infants at Risk of Disability in Childcare Settings" was presented by Bae Sung-hyun, Professor of Special Education at Dankook University. The concluding segment included calls to action from Hyojeong Jung, Head of the Korean Association of Child Care and Education, Jeong Jung-hee, President of the Korean Society for Early Childhood Education (KSECE), and Kim Jung-yeon, President of the Federation of Child Care Centers in Jeju Special Self-Governing Province. They emphasized the need to deploy professional counselors in childcare centers to support parents and childcare centers dealing with infants and toddlers at risk of disability.
