The Korea Institute of Child Care and Education (KICCE) hosted the '(Tentative) First Forum on Early Childhood Schools: Meeting with Provincial and Metropolitan Offices of Education to Support Young Children's Emotional and Psychological Development' on Monday, December 2, 2024. This forum was organized to share research findings and discuss support strategies at the provincial level, targeting professionals responsible for emotional and psychological support programs in early childhood schools within provincial and metropolitan offices of education.


During the forum, Eun Jin Kang, Senior Research Fellow at KICCE, discussed the roles and challenges faced by provincial and metropolitan offices of education in supporting young children's emotional and psychological development. Hyung Mi Kim, Professor in the Department of Early Childhood Education at Korean Bible University, presented teaching and behavioral support strategies that teachers can implement in the classroom. Additionally, Young A Kim, Professor in the Department of Early Childhood Education at Soong Eui Women's College, introduced methods for parents to understand their children's development and support them, based on assessments of emotional and social development.


This forum served as an opportunity to review the direction of pilot projects aimed at supporting young children's emotional and psychological well-being and to concretize strategies for child development by strengthening the roles of teachers and parents. Participants positively evaluated the event as a platform for practical discussions and enhanced collaboration.
