On Wednesday, February 12, 2025, the Korea Institute of Child Care and Education (KICCE) hosted a meeting with the executive board of the Korea Edu-Care Association (KECA) at the KICCE headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul. The meeting aimed to discuss key issues related to the integration of early childhood education and care (ECEC) and explore future collaboration strategies.
The meeting was attended by key representatives from KECA, including Chairperson Kim Kyung-sook, Public Childcare Division Chair Huh Hyun-joo, Social Welfare Corporation Division Chair Im Jin-sook, Corporation and Organizations Division Chair Oh Kyung-im, Workplace Childcare Division Chair Choi Hyo-young, Home Childcare Division Chair Park Myung-ha, Private Childcare Division Chair Lee Jung-woo, Secretary General Cho Sung-yeol, and Manager Park Il-kwon. From KICCE, participants included President Hwang Ock Kyeung, Director of Office of Planning and Coordination Lee Yunjin, Director of Office of Fertility Support and Family Policy Research Kang Eun Jin, Director of Low Birthrate Policy Research Kim Eunseol, Director of the Central Support Group for the ECEC Integration Pilot Project Choi Hyo Mi, Head of Future Education and Childcare Research Kim Ahreum, Head of After-school Support Research Koo Jayeon, and Head of Publishing and Public Relations Song Shinyeong.
During the meeting, participants engaged in discussions on critical challenges encountered in the field during the implementation of ECEC integration policies, as well as the neutrality and role of national research institutions. Both parties agreed to actively cooperate to ensure that field perspectives are effectively incorporated into future policy research.
