KICCE hosted the 12th Panel Study on Korean Children Conference on October 1st (Fri), 2021. The Panel Study on Korean Children Conference has been held annually since 2010 to present research papers and articles in the academia using data from the Panel Study on Korean Children that began in 2008. This year’s conference was contactless due to social distancing to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

In Part 1, there was an award ceremony for graduate theses and dissertations along with an introduction of the Panel Study on Korean Children and presentation of trend analysis on elementary school years. Researcher Jihyun Kim gave an overview of the Panel Study on Korean Children, explained the changes in variables of the Panel Study, and shared data utilization plans for user convenience. Researcher Dong Hoon Kim presented the results of trend analysis on elementary school years. He provided some meaningful findings: as children grew, the more time they spent playing games, which increased high-risk users in media device addiction, and parents tended to spend more time working from home.

The paper session in Part 2 was divided into child development, school life and adaptation, parenting and media, and total 18 papers were presented.
