On November 5, the Korean Institute of Child Care and Education (KICCE) held a special session for the Annual Autumn Conference of The Korean Association of Child Studies (KACS) and The Korean Society for Early Childhood Education & Care (KSECEC). In the session, a presentation was made under the title of “the reality of and demand for educating children at risk of disabilities in early childhood care and education institutions.” Discussions on the development of early childhood developmental screening for educators and teaching support materials were included to support the presentation. The KICCE is conducting research on “Comprehensive Measures for the Early Detection and Developmental Support of Children at Risk of Disabilities in Nurseries and Kindergartens” as a co-operative project with the KACS and KSECEC in 2022, and a special session was organized to share the research findings for the first year of the research and deliver the topic presentation.

Kang Eun Jin, senior research fellow at the KICCE, presented the reality of and demand for educating children at risk of disabilities in early childhood care and education institutes, while the KACS covered the development of developmental screening for educators to screen risk of disabilities in early childhood care and education institutions. The KSECEC spoke on the development of teaching support materials for educating children at risk of disabilities in early childhood care and education institutions.
